lululemon store displayUNC Student Stores saw an extraordinary turnout on Friday, Sept. 13, as students eagerly lined up for the much-anticipated UNC-Chapel Hill and lululemon collaboration launch. Some even arrived at midnight, with lines of customers wrapped around the Pit to secure giveaways and get first access to the exclusive merchandise.

“We were completely humbled by the great reception and excitement of the students that morning,” said Student Stores manager Michele Gretch-Carter, reflecting on the overwhelming response to the event.

Months of collaboration between UNC Trademarks and Licensing, Barnes & Noble College, and lululemon went into planning the launch, focusing on creating an assortment and shop design representing both brands.

“The traffic for the first day would be compared to two home football games happening on the same day!” Gretch-Carter shared. “The weekend traffic from visitors and fans made it one of the busiest weekends for the store in the last eight years, rivaled only by the 2017 Men’s Basketball National Championship.”

For those who missed the launch, lululemon merchandise will be available on the UNC Student Stores website starting the week of Sept. 30, with select Carolina Blue pieces arriving in-store in early October.
