A Xerox Multi-Functional Device (MFD) in your area requires a firmware update to implement security patches and maintain optimal performance. If you oversee the use of more than one model of MFD, you will receive a separate announcement and schedule for each model.
The updates are remotely sent to the MFDs as an evening print job. For the device to receive the remote update packet, it must be on-line and “ready” (sleep mode is OK). When the update is complete, it performs a reboot. The device should then return to the “ready” state and be available for regular use.
Several device users at each MFD location will be visited by the Carolina Managed Print Services / Xerox team the day after the update to ensure the MFDs are working properly. Contact CMPS if you are experiencing any issues after the update at uncmanagedprint@aux-services.unc.edu.
